hey everyone! today is a good day, just to let you know! well, besides the fact that i could have probably used a few more hours of sleep. i guess i should learn how to deal without sleep; i am a college student after all!

last night, i was asked to attend one of the receptions that is hosted by our university. this was a really great opportunity to leave campus and broadcast OSU Lima around to surrounding areas. we hold receptions in areas such as Cincinnati, Dayton, Toledo, Findlay, etc. the receptions are similar to our open houses, minus the campus tours and such. it's a great way for students to get familiar with OSU and what this university is all about, if they are otherwise unable to visit our campus or are just curious about what OSU can offer them. i went to the Cincinnati Reception which was held in the Marriott Hotel near Mason, OH. i felt it was very successful! about 6 or 7 families attended, which enabled the OSU Admissions/Financial Aid Staff to gear their presentation towards the prespective students.

the ride down there was rather long, as was the ride back, but it was worth it. because i live close to OSU Lima, i never attended one of these off-campus receptions. now, i know what to expect the next time i'm asked to work at one. i seriously love my job! lol AND of course, i seriously love OSU!

I couldn't possibly begin to convey everything that has taken place between last Monday and today in a blog, but I'm going to try my hardest to include the majority of them! :)

Monday night, my friend Mandi from the Admissions Office had all the workers over for an intimate St. Patrick's Day party. It was really fun! There's this new game called Rock Band..maybe you've heard of it? lol Well, that game occupied most of our night. It's one of the funnest video games that I have played for a while. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, Google it :)

Wednesday of that same week was the Ohio State/Rhodes State Campus Career Day, where over 1000 high school students visited campus from roughly 9:30 until 1. There were workshops spread around campus which highlighted careers in specific areas. (business workshop, biology workship, etc.) The workers were mainly there as hall monitors/traffic directors, making sure all the students got to their assigned destinations on time. I never went to Career Day in high school, but now that I'm familiar with one, I wish I would have gone. Students sign up for subjects that they may be or may not be familiar with, and then they are introduced to possible careers that could be available to them if they were to decide to take that specific education route. It's super informative and a great way to help with college decisions.

After giving various tours to prospective students as well as making many college-seeker phone calls, Friday arrived. Six of us from the office took a random shopping trip to Columbus and had an amazing time! I got a new sweatshirt jacket and a pair of jeans, plus a multitude of new memories and inside jokes! :)

On Saturday, I hung out with some of my old high school friends. I am blessed to have such wonderful individuals in my life, people who I have managed to remain friends with even after graduating and moving on to bigger, more exciting things.

Sunday was Easter. It was relaxing and sad. Relaxing because I got to spend a majority of the day hanging out with my family. Sad because my sister and I both forgot to ask off work at McDonalds, so we had to go in at 5. Surprisingly enough, it was really busy! I cannot get over how many people eat at McDonalds as some type of "family tradition." The same goes for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and other holidays. You learn a lot of stuff when working fast food.

That brings me to this week. Spring break ended, initiating the start of Spring Quarter. So far, so good! I'm really going to enjoy Spanish; there were a lot of familiar faces in that class. And although my sociology class is really big, I know quite a few people, not to mention class let out an hour and twenty minutes early today. Not a bad start!

Finally, I would just like to add that the movie August Rush is now one of my favorites of all time! If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest you rent it and watch it. You won't be disappointed!

At 2:40, I have my introduction to Shakespeare class. I'll let you know how it goes...

later on!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! :)

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend! I sure did. Well, for the most part! I didn't do anything Friday night, which was really nice for a change. I got to catch up on some reading, and by reading, I'm mainly refering to my websites. I wanted to reread The Guardian, one of my favorite books written by Nicholas Sparks, but my sister has it stored away some where. And the funny thing is it's my book..hmm...but anyways! I got a new T.V./DVD player Friday evening! :) It's an HDTV, and the picture quality is amazing! I can't wait until I can watch OSU Football on it this coming fall; it will be incredible!

My trip to BG was nothing short of educational. The drive up was nice; just Bekah and I talking and getting to know each other. But, once we got there, I honestly didn't know what to think about it! lol I've heard nothing but good things about BG, and I was actually planning on going on a college visit there to get familarized with campus and the university. To make a long story short, there were A LOT of kids! I fail to believe that many people can fit into such a small town. There is one obvious difference between OSU Lima and BG: size. OSU Lima has a very organized, compact campus. It's very easy to navigate, and although I'm sure it wouldn't take me that long to learn my way around campus at BG, there seemed to be no organization among the buildings whatsoever. I was really confused after Susie gave us a "tour." Visiting BG made me realize how right I was in my decision to attend OSU Lima. I couldn't imagine going to another university! If I thought BG was bad, I can only imagine how confused I would have been if I decided to go to main campus in Columbus...

At BG, I attended a free swing dance class. It was really cool! It's a campus event which takes place once a month. It's a really great way to meet people, not to mention an awesome way to spend a Saturday night! What happens is there are a few instructors that teach a dance, a couple's dance. Boys on one side of the room; girls on the other. After the dance is taught, every person finds a partner, and they dance! It was a really neat experiencel! I have never been to anything like it before, and I'm actually thinking maybe OSU Lima can organize something similar...who knows!

Just so I don't completely bore you all, I will end this lovely blog and entertain you at a later date!

Have a good night! Oh, and I hope you remembered to wear green today :) Oh, and by the way, green is my favorite color!

Your fellow blogger,
Megan

FINALS ARE DONE! i'm excited! all in all, i think i did pretty well on them..hopefully! lol the bio exam was a "make-up" quiz..if we do well on that quiz, it takes the place of our lowest test score. i personally think this is an awesome set-up! i wasn't too worried about the exam, but i really needed to do well on the make-up test because my last quiz score wasn't the greatest. and actually, it wasn't the greatest for anyone in the class, and dr. j has no idea why! oh well. spanish didn't go too bad..who knows! so much vocab, so many conjugations, but i get to take spanish 103 next quarter! sweet! ¡yo hablo espanol! calculus was mind-boggling. i don't think i want to talk about it..but i will! hah it was culmulative, unfortunately, so everything that we had done over the quarter was on it, plus two new chapters that we haven't really had a chance to practice. i felt pretty good about it aftewards, although i forgot what my name was and what building i was in...ok, maybe not, but that's definitely what it felt like!

so after yesterday, i am now officially on spring break! tomorrow, there is a school event called Passport to Lima taking place at the bowling alley. it should be a really good time! Passport to Lima organizes special outtings for students to participate in, and i am a big fan of bowling! i finally made it to the point where i don't need bumpers...yeah, that's right! i usually luck out and get a few strikes now and again :)

this weekend, i'm going to visit my friend who attends Bowling Green. i've been planning to visit her ever since, oh, fall quarter, so it's a pretty big deal! her roommates are throwing a late b-day party for her, so saturday is the perfect time to visit! she's going to give me a tour of campus and everything, and my friend Bekah from high school is going to be riding up with me. i just need to figure out where i'm going exactly, and everything else will fall into place!

hmm, well right now, i'm sitting in the admissions office waiting to give a tour to a potential future OSU buckeye! O H! the weather is BEAUTIFUL! spring is on its way :) the sun is shining, and it's warm. i can't wait until the snow melts! i like snow, but there's a point in time when enough is enough.. lol

well, have a good day everyone!

later on! :)

yesterday was my 19th birthday! AHH! :) i cannot believe that i have been alive for 19 years..it's a weird thing to think about. i had a really amazing day though! all of my friends wished me a happy birthday, my parents got me an awesome cake/card (not to mention an I.O.U..lol), and i got to hang out with some really cool people.

the day started out with multiple texts..my friend brittni got me a birthday donut! veryyyy good! and then i went out with some friends to Red Lobster...i used to hate sea food, but now i love it! i should probably eat it more often, but it is rather expensive, which isn't fun. heh but anyways, after that, i took susie to visit the office where i work on campus. i talk about it all the time, so now she can finally put an image to the stories! we then went to the choir concert that was performed on campus, and i must say, i was impressed! i think i might join choir next year...too bad i can't sing...lol i took a lot of pictures last night, and i can't wait to share them with everyone! i couldn't have asked for a better birthday :)

and today is susie's birthday, so weather permitting, she's going to have a small group of people over to her house to watch movies, eat pizza, and celebrate her birthday. i'm excited!

oh, and in reference to my last post, i didn't go to physical therapy and school was closed at 2:40. it was a good day! :)

and so was yesterday, and well, have an awesome night!

later on!

GO BUCKS! lol

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

hey everyone! i just want to say that i had an amazing weekend!! this might be a pretty lengthy blog..bare with me! hah..or not!

well, friday night, my friend Amanda got married! i could not stop smiling during the whole ceremony. she looked so beautiful, and the wedding itself was rather simple! it started at 6:30, and it was over by 7:00...i was excited! lol it maybe could have been a little longer, but still, it was beautiful!! the reception was nice as well. i went with my friend, Sophie, and there were also a few of our acquaintances from high school in attendance, so i knew some people. i also knew some of Amanda's family that i met at her bridal shower. the food was great, the cake was amazing, and over all, it was a success! :) after the reception, i went out with two of my guy friends. we drove around and laughed and did all that fun stuff, then we made our way into wapak to visit my best friend and our mutual friend from BG. guitar hero at 2 in the morning, as well as real guitar playing, is definitely a fun time! i didn't get home that night until pretty late/early, depending upon your preference..but it was worth it :) i miss nights like that!

saturday night, my biology group got together at Lynsey's house to work on our website project over Cancer. i have never had so much fun working on a project before. what's cool about this situation is normally, we probably wouldn't have been hanging out together. a few of us, maybe, but each person comes from completely different background, but together, we all put that outside and just accept each person for who they are...that is the beauty of college! well, we had pizza, compliments of Luke's church, and we proceeded to discover a web host that allowed us to easily create a website. oh, and we had a photo session, which was the highlight of the evening!! i had an allergic reaction to some baby powder...we won't go into that...needless to say, the project is done!

sunday was my old dance studio's "pep rally." what happens during pep rally is each family comes to the studio for fellowship and fun, and the dancers perform their group numbers that they will be taking to the first dance competition what is coming the following weekend. pep rally signifies the actual start of competition season...it was a blast! i miss dance so much..

alright alright. i will have to save the rest of my blogging for another...blog. i have physical therapy to go to in the next 20 minutes...and the weather outside is horrible! i am not a fan of coldddd rain.

later on!
